Warm enough for the beach most days. Across the last ten Marches (2016 to 2025), Tenerife South airport averaged a daytime high of 23.7°C and a night-time low of 15.5°C. Santa Cruz on the north-east coast was a degree cooler by day and a degree warmer at night. Every one of those ten Marches had at least 30 days reaching 20°C on the south coast.
March can also bring short hot spells when warm, dusty air (the calima) blows in from the Sahara. In March 2017 and March 2023 the south coast passed 30°C for several days in a row. These spells usually come with hazy skies and last a few days.
Does it rain in Tenerife in March?
Very little. The south coast averaged 7mm of rain in March, on about one day in the month. Even the wettest March of the decade brought under 20mm. The north of the island is greener because it catches more cloud and showers. Santa Cruz averaged 19mm on about three days.
Is March a good time to visit Tenerife?
Yes, if you want dependable warmth. On the south coast, March is slightly warmer than February and about half as wet. Stay on the south coast for the most sunshine and the least rain. The north is a little cloudier but has the island’s greenest walking country.
